Teen Tuesday – Distorted Self-Images

Teenagers (especially girls), remember this as you go about your daily lives among people more attractive than you, people with nicer clothes and shoes, people with nicer hair, and while watching TV shows, movies, and advertisements that portray beautiful people as the norm.  Remember that they are not the norm.  They are touched up and fake.  And even if they weren’t, it wouldn’t matter, because the media purposefully chooses models and actors that are more attractive than the norm so they can promote and sell their stuff.  Be comfortable with who you are, who God made you to be, knowing that it is enough.  There will always be someone better looking than you.  That is okay.  We waist so much time and energy trying to live up to ideals that are stupid and impossible, when we could be spending that time and energy on something else like simply enjoying life.  You will never be happy unless you are content with yourself first – inside and out.  When we are comfortable in our own skin, then, and only then, will we be able to share something amazing with the world…and yes, we ALL have something amazing to share.

  1. I thought you might like my sisters blog page she has as an author. She is a high school teacher and youth group leader at church and is a teen author so she loves teens and post a lot of great stuff on your page.

  2. I just want to say, thank you. I’m 15, and this is an amazing (though short) little blog post, and the picture — incredible! Thank you so much!
